Set up and operate machines that automatically and manually cut, straighten, and chop wire used in cable assemblies
Duties & Responsibilities
Study work schedule of cut lengths, and plan sequence of operations
Lift wire spools manually or using a hoist, and position and secure it to a holding device such as the flash cutter, wire cutter or swag
Start machine and observe operation to detect machine malfunction
Select cut lengths and speeds for each machine
Place boxes under ejection roll or manually remove and bundle or box the cut, stripped, and marked wire
Examine wire for conformance to specifications and remove defective pieces
Observe automatic counter or count finished pieces, and record data on completion tickets or output tickets
Replace dull or broken cutting or stripping blades.
Maintain the machines, such as oiling, greasing and making minor adjustments, when needed
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
Or one to three months related experience and/or training;
Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
